Firm Ride Control

Every time I start the car I hear a noise which I determined is coming from the rear end. This is before I even move the car or put it in gear. The firm ride light comes on, it makes a noise similar to a rubbing sound then it stops and the light goes out. Anyone else experience this anomaly?

I bet it's your ARC actuators trying to set the rear shocks.

Try removing the actuators from the shocks, leaving them in the trunk and wired up, and see if the noise quits.

Or crawl back there and have someone else turn the ignition on :D

Dunno, my 20 year old ARC shocks were in such bad shape, I've disabled that and gone to KYB GR-2's.

Couldn't lay out the coin for Illumina IIs, you see.

Thats the startup sequencing. Its normal. If you see flashing afterwards, then its time to lightly oil the shock tower tips or replace the shocks which are likely worn out anyways.
