My minor leaking brake pressure switch has changed into a new problem. A couple days ago I had a trail of brake fluid from the previously intermittent leaking switch. Anyway, as everyone probably knows by now, it is not possible to buy the exact replacement switch new.
I swapped with a switch out of another car and now the pump runs after every press of the pedal. Even with the bad switch in the car, the accumulator would hold pressure for numerous presses of the pedal. I changed the switch (some fluid leaked out of the line) and now the pump runs after every press of the pedal.
The reservoir never ran dry and I bled both front lines without any change to the problem. I will likely bleed the rears too in an attempt to figure this thing out....even if the problem doesn't go away, I'll have new brake fluid throughout.
Anybody have any suggestions?
UPDATE: I bled the rear brakes and now the pump runs on every 2nd pump. Better, but not good enough.
