Fuel pump pulse dampener

Gonna try and install my new fuel pump,walbro 155lph, this weekend. While going over the instructions I saw that the stock pulse dampener is to be reused and was wondering if they are even needed or are prone to failure at 22+ years and 125,000 miles. The kit came with clamps and fuel resistant hose like the larger pumps come with that I can install. Thanks for any input.

Just ditch it and use the regular hose, all aftermarket higher volume pumps are this way.

Thanks for the input, my best guess was to replace the dampener with the supplied hose and clamps. To keep these cars running right seems to be a real group effort, so I really appreciate the input and knowledge on this site.
