MY NEXT QUESTION IS 4 POST DOWN!

just bought a 1990 cougar xr7 5 speed. After driving it home I realized that the tac started to not work once you hit 3k. It drops to 0. You can hit the accelerator and sometimes get it back to working, and then sometimes not. Does this sound like a cluster problem or a pickup problem? Where does the tac get its reading from? Thanks!

Have one more question that someone may know, is the idle set by the ECM or is there a throttle stop screw that you use to set the idle, right now, it runs at 1500 for about 10 seconds, and then kicks down to 1000. When your driving it and you push the clutch in to shift gears the engine revs up to about 2000 and slowly comes back down to 1000 if you just hold the clutch in. But it takes a while to come back down, i would say, 4-6 sec. maybe it's just the way these cars run, or do I have a problem? Is this all set by the comp. or do I have a vacuum leak causing this? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
