fuel injectors restoration

Hello,

I just finished doing a head gasket replacement on Thunderbird. While replacing the rubber 0-rings on the injectors I noticed that some of same had cracks in the orange plastic cap.
I got a replacement kit from O'reilly, but after I installed it on the first injector I noticed that the metal pin at the bottom of the injectors was not sticking out a far as it did with the original cap.
The blue cap seems to be slightly taller.

Can I use the replacement caps or should I get new injectors?<a href="http://s270.beta.photobucket.com/user/falcon20x/media/IMG_1443_zpscd4e1f4a.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj116/falcon20x/IMG_1443_zpscd4e1f4a.jpg" border="0" alt="thunderbird injectors 3 photo IMG_1443_zpscd4e1f4a.jpg"/></a>

I never...

...heard of anybody doing that. Most people buy new injectors. But some people buy used injectors from other members. I wouldn't if I could avoid it. I'd rather put in new.

They check and replace all parts that need to be replaced, and also flow test and match the set. I had a set done for a buddies car a few years ago and they were awesome. Pretty quick turnaround. When I had it done it was $18 per, but now it looks like $22 per. Still a better deal then a new set of 6, plus they are flow matched instead of off a line and slapped into a box.

save your money

flip them upside down and hit it with compressed air

then replace the filter on the top

/done

Are you sure they are snapped on all the way? I don't remember exactly, but I sort of remember the pintle caps being hard to install.
