Removing/altering steering tilt lever

Can the tilt lever be removed without taking the column apart? I tried twisting it, thinking it might be threaded in, but stopped short of "popping" it loose, or breaking it off.

I wish to give it a bend inward, as the column fit-up on my F100 causes those with long legs (me) to bump it with their knee.

Thanks,
John L.

Yes it can.
All the tilt lever's I have dealt with have been threaded in.
However I have seen some that have been striped out and the lever just spins and had to pulled on while twisting to remove them.

I think they put some red loc tite on them things. Some heat would prolly help break it free.

If I brace it at the column, do you think I could bend it in without actually removing it? How herky is the female end?
