Cylinder sleeve

What are your thoughts of having a cylinder sleeve installed in a damaged cylinder?? Engine has been bored .030 already and one cylinder has some pitting on the wall that I don't think will come out. I have heard if it is done properly it is fine. I think popular hotrodding did an article about it.

The press fit of a sleeve is going to distort the bore next to it. Sleeves should always be installed before boring/honing. If the shop is good enough to install the sleeve with less than .0005" press then you might get lucky. Generally sleeves are installed with about .001-.002" press but that will definitely mess up the bore next to it. Getting the bore between .0003-.0005" press fit is very difficult as boring machines are not that precise.
