Good Junk Yard Supercharger

First look for any physical damage. dents cracks, check the pulley shaft for play? does it spin free? does it look like it has been leaking around the shaft? is there any fuild in it? what is the condition of the the fuild? is there water in it?

Hope this helps.

It has oil in it, but it is not that black old oil. It is light brown oil. It spind freely when I turn it, but if it turn the pulley counterclock wise and then abruptly turn it clockwise, it take about a 1/2 second to respond. Feedback please

its a 91 up blower, just hold the snout and spin the pulley smoothly and quickly in one direction, if you cant feel a rumble from the snout it should be fine

Hold the rotors by hand so they don't move, then turn the pulley. If the pulley only moves a slight amount (about 5 degrees) then it is good and has the solid coupling. If the pulley moves about 15 degrees and springs back then you have a spring coupling and it is good. If it clicks and clacks back and forth then the spring broke and should be replaced (the coupling).

There should be no marks on the rotors themselves. Check the edge of the rotors. Look for small scratches that run in the same direction that the rotors turn. Feel inside the case at the outlet to see if there are scratches in the case as well.

That it has oil it is good. From what you discribe it sound good as long as there is no water in it. SC oil after time smells real bad which is normal. Also it sound that the oil is not burnt. so I would say from that aspect you are okay. How is it physically?
