How do you break in an engine?????????????

Generally you just drive it around and try to keep the engine speeds varied for the first 500 miles. Just avoid cruising at idle speeds and you should be OK. After 500 miles, change oil and it should be good to go.

Or not... These 3.8s are rather durable and a good filter should get you to 5000 miles easy. Thats the Ford recommended interval.. None of my 3 SCs have fouled rings and all have over 150,000 with 5000 mile oil changes with regular 10w30.

I agree but I will add when I change the oil I change the oil filter. A little overkill. I do it to make sure all the oil is out of the car.

Well... if it doesn't go, then idle as much as you need to get it fixed first. You're not going to hurt it.

lug it in 2nd from 600-6000 then let it come back down to 600 and do it again 3 times or so, consider the engine then broken in

You want pressure and back pressure on the rings don't declutch on decel

the first thousand miles of an engines life should be the hardest If u can't break it then, consider her solid
