TB coolant tubes

I started pulling my 90 apart to change a leaky rocker cover gasket and my TB has two coolant tubes coming out of it on each side at the bottom. I have never seen this before, no SC that I have pulled apart has them. What are they for and has anyone bypassed them somehow? I have a pile of stuff to go on this car including an 85maf but dont see how its gonna work with these coolant tubes.

It's a TB pre/help-heat circuit - you can bypass the stock design with a piece of brass tubing used to connect the existing hoses. A required mod with many aftermarket TBs, I believe.
