High revs and dies after water pump install

Just put in a new water pump and gasket. Went to start my 95 sc and it fires up to about 2500 then dies immediately. If I give it has it does the same thing revs up and will die instantly unless I hit the gas. It won't stay at any rpm just up and then down. Baffled ????? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Did you remove any of the intake plumbing? Check for things like an unplugged MAF, vacuum leak, things like that.

If none of that was touched, I would say check your wires in the area of the water pump. The crank sensor wires run near there. Maybe something is wet?
