Mass air sensor

My car will not run correctly with the Mass air plugged in. Unplug it and you can drive it with no miss fire or bucking. I have a guy that wants to buy it. Is it safe to drive with the mass air unplugged?

not really. The car isn't measuring properly the amount of air coming in. Unplugging it to see if it runs is just for diagnostic purposes. We recently bought a MAF for a 94 at autozone for $90 came with the housing and the sensor.

Without a MAF the engine computer takes lots of guess and doesn't use data from some sensors anymore. Lots of things go into default and the drivability will suffer. It may also have trouble with hot and cold starts.

It may be that you have a short in your wiring harness somewhere that involves the harness for the MAF sensor.
