Does anybody know the sweep on stock oil pressure gauge? i.e. is it 0 to 100 or 0to80 or 0to whatever. Thanks 4 any reply.

It's an on/off situation…like an idiot light. Specific pressure(s) beyond a low minimum isn't measured or displayed.

If you want actual pressure, you'll need to mod the gauge and hook in a pressure sender or just mount an actual pressure gauge/sender combo in a pod on the window pillar.

To be specific, from factory, it's "Below 7psi == 0, above 7psi == some random value that depends on the tolerances inside the gauge itself and the resistor used to fake it with."

TCCoA has a tech write up in the forums on swapping to a real gauge, by bypassing the resistor (usually on the back of the instrument cluster) and replacing the switch with a real sending unit.

I already did the conversion.I would just like to know if the gauge is 0 to 100 or 0 to 80. Thanks 4 any reply.

According to this link:

…mid way is meant to be a faked 40 psi. If you decide to believe that, then then gauge represents a maximum of 80.

Why not put a real gauge on it so you know what's happening for your car, specifically, then compare that to the stock gauge markings.

According to this PDF: http://www.sccoa.com/articles/thunderbird_1990.pdf

…'normal' stock oil pressure is 40psi ~ 60psi @ 2000 rpm

Tks for the post

I did the conversion and was curious what the motor was doing.

I like the stock look.
