OK, so I have a severe wind noise and draft coming into my cabin. The weather stripping is sliced for whatever reason. See below.

So the question is, the black soft foam is glued to the gray door seal. Can I just glue a replacement foam piece to the gray seal or do I need a whole replacement seal? I already posted on the wanted section for a replacement and a few people said they have some but I just want to clarify what the proper fix is.

thanks

The (grey) rubber seal that pushes onto the seam is factory. If the 'foam' is a separate piece, I don't think it's factory.

If for some strange reason you need to redo the 'foam', visit your nearest Home Depot for household door jam seal that comes with adhesive and replace as needed, but I'd want to know why it's there, first :)

I think the seal is actually one piece, with just the inside lip colored grey...the seal has separated on the leading (black) edge, allowing an air leak - I'd also guess the seal was all black originally, as I've seen some that were blue on the inside to match a blue interior. My black car has all black seals.

If it is all one seal, you need an entire new door seal that surrounds the door opening, meeting under the plastic door sill that runs next to the outside of the seat, lower door opening.

I think if you get new you won't have the grey section inside - if you can find a grey car with an intact used seal, you may be able to replace and retain the original look. I've seen seals that appear identical, yet have different diameter seal 'tubes'. I'd guess early was think and later are larger.

If I were you, I'd look into a pair of new seals if you intend to keep the car and not worry about color match.

From the looks of the picture the bottom hinge does not look like it is sitting flush against the A pillar/ door jamb. was it in a side impact and it could of pushed the pillar in. Causing the seal not to seal. Here is a pic iI took from one of my cars.http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/j373/badbird90/IMG_20131110_130844_781_zps8890292b.jpg

It was never hit. The door doesnt sag and closes very easily. Your pic is of the lower hinge, mine is the upper. Plus there is some reflection making is appear bowed out I believe. My issue definitely is because the seal is missing an 8 piece. I will call Bill at Supercoupe performance tomorrow and see what my option are.

If that's the door molding, it's available new from Steele Rubber.

I have the Ebay sale they have on it linked (http://www.ebay.com/itm/271093333182?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649), since it's in my long term plans to replace my old stuff with new.

Do note that's a complete set for both doors.

Seams like alot of work scraping the old weather seals from the gray piece.

It a labor of love. if you want a lot of work change out the door hinges.

The later cars are an all black one piece version. Do you have an 89?

I have a set of greys, although not perfect they are pretty good.

Off an 89

Just not sure about shipping. There not the type of piece that coils down like rope.

The same seals work on all the MN12s.

They may not be identical, but they do all work the same.
