We'll this is how I spent my thanksgiving day, making a billet cover for the DIS module. My goal one day is to have my whole engine Powdercoated, chromed out loomed and braided like some of you guys here. One thing I hate though is how ugly the DIS looks.

It fits perfectly over the DIS and the connectors still come on and off. I read some threads here about these things overheating and failing, I'm not sure if this cover helps or makes things worse. It's .150 thick walled all around, aluminum already dissipates heat really good plus I added some grooves on top that I think look good and should aid in dissipating the heat.

Either way I'm still gonna run it, I have a cervinis ram air hood and the vent sits right in front of the DIS. Let me know what you guys think looks wise and performance wise.

thanks!

Looks cool, if you really hate the look of the dis it can always be relocated ;)

I'd settle for a thin short-ribbed (?) plate that fits over the top rectangular plastic plate in the middle.

Yeah I was reading a thread about relocating it, I ended up finding it easier for me to make a cover since I cut metal all day anyways. Plus I'd probable mess the wiring up

I have an extra one, i always make two parts just in case I mess up I don't have to start all the way from the beginning. Just gotta finish up a few details and I'm debating on what to engrave in the center. If they both make it all the way we can work something out. Or I wouldn't mind making a couple more if a few guys want one.

This would have saved me all day..

I can make a couple of these if you want?

One would be enough for me :) Maybe wait to see if there is any demand? Rib height subtle (1/8"? Might depend on plate thickness...) pls....your choice. No logo.

Some of the DISs (Motorcraft, as an example) had a removable center plate made out of plastic - see attached.

Kinda concerned about it retaining heat. But I can use it for shows. If it can be placed on top, easily removed and no great effort I will be interested in a chrome one that says "SUPERCHARGED".

I'd be interested in one of these DIS covers...

Um, how's about radiator cap covers...any thought on making these? Bird logos, CAT logos, "SC"??

Not sure If i'll be making these, there didn't seem to be enough interest in this to bring the cost down and make them affordable. I still havn't finished these prototypes, I plan on engraving "supercoupe" on it not sure.

Im in the middle of powdercoating/chroming my motor so hopefully when I take pictures of this on a shiny engine more guys might want one. If not, I'll run one and offer the second one to someone else and that it.

Now that looks sharp.

When you do one with the engraving - I'm in. SC or Supercharged would definitely stand out - price and shipping to 77396?

Hell I'm in even if you leave it plain, but polished!

I'm sure it's because the part is not universal, meaning, it only fits Gen 1 models and not both Gen 1 and Gen 2.

Or, you need someone like Jeff to buy 10 of them. :p Then again, Jeff has enough bling under his hood so don't sell him any. :)

The DIS dissapates heat from the bottom. Id look into making a finned spacer. Allthough the design looks nice it may be counterproductive from a heat standpoint. The plastic housing of the DIS is not a good heat conductor

The DIS dissapates heat from the bottom.

Actually, the accessory bracket is hotter and since heat rises, flow goes upwards from both, into the airstream over the front of the engine and then down the back/sides.

If you do decide to make more I will get one. Also did you buy or make the oil fill cap?
