Tonight I was driving my 94,(The daily driver, with nothing more than intake mods a shift kit & flowmaster exhaust..Car ran a best of 15.1 @90 something) minding my own business, I pull up to a light beside this boxter and look over to see an older lady 40-50, thinking nothing of it.
Then I here the engine reving...she looks over and just grins!
I look back puzzled! As the light turns green she floors it. I say, What the hell...to my suprise I was able to pull her in by about 60mph, and start to pull away 1 ft at a time!...70mph, I'm in a 45 zone, Ok...I back out. She passes me and slows down allowing me to catch up, she wants some more abuse. so from 45 we go! I walk on her Again!!! up to 105 where shes about 1 car behind.
I backed out and she went by. I continued on following her until she flipped a U and honked.
Not as an empressive kill as it would have been with the 92, but I felt rather good about my mostly stock 94!

Oh that is so blinkin funny!
I love it.
A cool older chick in a Porsche. Now that you don't see very often at all!
I once played with a boxter on the highway in my CamaraSS. It was funny because I was WAY faster, but the young PUNK in the Porsche just couldn't grasp the concept and nearly impailed himself into the back of a flatbed truck. Takes all kinds I guess.
Anyway, awesome race!

Yea, it was fun... Inormally don't race too much on the street but there was very little traffic. The 92 has put the hurt on a few WS6 TAs, and a Z06 vette, but the 94 only has had kills like "RICE",& Older 4.6 Mustangs, & 3rd gen Z28s so I thought a porsche was a notable credit!

haha, that reminds me of a story that was really similiar. One night after swinging by Arby's for a Jomacha shake(yum!) I was quitely driving home along good 'ol West O street. For the next two or so miles I caught everylight next to an '02 or '03 Eclipse Spyder GS-T Covertable. EVERY LIGHT!!!! And it was some middle aged rich women(type that cheats on thier never home coperate husband). Anyway, she was going at it off of everylight. It was sweeet.... too bad I could quite keep up with her :( Oh, yeah, I was driving my kick @!# '85 Cougar 3.8L. Poor car got a work out that night. I don't I had ever wished that I was driving my SC more than that night!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

HAHA, that's great. :D
BTW, Thomas, if the eclipse was an '02 or '03 , then it couldn't have been an GS-T. If it was a GS-T, it had to be a '99 or older model.

Oh, okay. It was a while ago. Maybe it wasn't even a turbo. I think it was a spyder though?? Do they still make the GSX all wheel drive models?

haha, not yet! The 3000 is sitting right now, I need to replace a failed 02 sensor, but she ran hard as hell before that. Jason Marsh drove it a few times so he can testify about it. I took it to the track with just the few mods it has on it (less than $500) and held off my buddy in his RX-7 that ran 11.2x's until third gear. He was running his slicks but still couldn't get the hole shot. AWD OwN3Z JoO! lol I messed up my shift (I thought I shifted back into first, so I took the car out of gear and then put it back into 3rd) so, I ran in the 13's on that run, which should have been a high 12 or 13 flat. He ran a low 12 (don't know what happened to him). I'm pretty much neck and neck with, but have walked, my friend's VR-4 that runs 12.6-12.8's.
Watching Jason's progress on my old SC has made me think about getting another SC. It's truly amazing how the car is compared to when Jason first got it. Sadly, right now I have neither the time, money, nor space for a project car.

Will, thats pretty cool...pretty fast. VR4s are cool cars, but theres no back seat to speak of. I haven't got to race one yet, although I did have an even tree T/O against a Viper GTS, ACR...the 500 Hp model. He couldn't hook the thing and I killed him until 3/4 thru the 1/4mile where he finally caught & passed me to end up only 1 car out front going thru the traps! Too bad my SC was hot, & the tracks computer malfuntioned on the pass. We've been able to get 1.82 60fts out of the 92 SC, what kind of 60fts are you running.... just curious?

HAHA, I'd hate to be doing that Viper guy's laundry that night. 1.8's from an SC are impressive! Stock AWD 3/S cars (3000GT/Stealth) with a decent driver will pull consistant 1.7-1.8 60's. I don't remember what my 60' was, and I've since thrown the timeslip away, so I really cant tell you. I can tell you that after that run, my clutch was hot as hell (back to back runs) and I couldn't get anything lower than a 2.0. I don't know what the cars would pull on slicks because I don't know anyone who runs them, but I would assume low 1.6's-1.5's would be possible, since I've seen cars running street tires pull 1.6x's.
Here are a few vids that show some traction probs, as well as one of the faster FWD cars. Please right click these and choose "Save Target As..." Oh, beware, some of these contain profanity.

ok I'm new around these parts, but what you are saying is that you had raced a Boxter and beat it? I'm not so sure about that. Now don't get me wrong, it could happen, but i have driven a few SC's(as I'm looking to buy one) and I'm sure that tha SC's that I have driven could not and never will beat a boxter.
What are the differences in your '94 to the '92?
SC ya later.

i can believe he did beat a boxter, one of my friends (68cougar) beat a porsche boxter or other newer porsche on the highway in his 89 cougar XR7 which runs mid 14s)
those boxters are not what they appear (think 2002 tbird performance)

The early Boxster is pretty damn weak considering it is a porshe, ussualy a out of the box semi-race eqipped car...BUT...IMO the boxster was the furthest thing from the 911 breed...0-60 was 7 sec...Can't remember the quarter mi. Anyway the story sounds accurate to me...But the new Boxster on the other hand is a bit more live...They are in the 5's 0-60 now...Huge diff...Not sure if that is a high buk model or not, but it is fast regardless...That I think would give most of us SC'rs some trouble if it has legs for the 1/4...

"Nervkiller"....Well, this may suprise you. My 94 with my 16 year old son behind the wheel, also beat a 2000 Lightning...At the track!.
The lightning driver was imbarrsed at his times all day long the best he could manage was a 15.0 on street tires. On the time trial that my son beat him he ran 15.5 to my sons 15.3.
The lightning couldn't get traction to save his ~~~!
Now take into consideration that I live at high altitude, 3500 ft in Colorado. A supercharged motor will make its own air where others are starving!
Bone stock my 94 outran a 96 Mustang GT. evertime we raced..even when he left first!
Now, for the Boxter...Maybe she couldn't drive it! but I'd say she gave it hell, & It was her looking for a race, not me! I really didn't think I had a chance, but said what the hell! Now I can't claim I smoked her but I was pulling on her slowly, a foot at a time! It was a very evenly matched race. & I don't believe it was a boxster S!!!My 94 SC will easily run 14s at sea level!
