Cranks Longer and Longer

Hello all,
Well my 95 is starting to make we worry. It seems it is starting to take longer and longer to start. It is now up to about 3 to 4 sec. Whats the scoop? Thanks as always!

When you start it, what are you doing with the throttle? Full open, or not touching it?

When you say long crank do you mean you are holding it for 3 minutes, or on-off/on-off/on-off repeated for 3 minutes?

Could be fuel regulator failure leaking fuel into the cylinders fouling the plugs. The excessive crank time is due to the plugs having to dry out.

Could be injectors leaking fuel into the cylinders, doing the same.

And finally it could be a Cam Sensor failure. Depending on the failure mode, with the Cam sensor unavailable, the engine computer won't be able to determine when to fire the #1 cylinder spark plug. So the computer will take a guess each time you try to start it. Eventually the computer guesses right and the engine will start.

Those are the first things to consider. You could also check for spark in case you are having an odd electrical problem requiring the components to heat up a bit before they work. A timing light works well for that.
