Removing rear springs

Hey guys, I'm in the process of cutting my springs and I cannot get the two bolts out of the knuckles on the LCAs to swing it out of the way. Is it possible to just lower the LCA still attached to the knuckle without damaging the axle or any other components? It will move if I push down on it, I just don't want to break anything.

Assuming you have stock springs, I don't think you'll be able to get the amount of deflection you need to make that possible.

You may be able to remove the halfshaft retaining nut and push it in enough to get it out of the knuckle. I think I've heard that's possible, but I've never been able to make it work.

Why can't you get the bolts out of the knuckles? Rust?

Yeah they're just seriously rusted in place. Do you think I could take the inboard bolts out of the LCA?

Sort of depends on how rusty they are. Wouldn't be ideal, and it might make getting the LCAs back in a bit of a trick, lining them up with spring pressure on them.
