I am tossing around the idea of selling my first bird. I have not seen the thing in 2 years and Coy Miller has been babysitting it.

It has a CMRE Stage 1 engine with stage 2 rods/pistons
ASP Aluminum Anodized Pulley Set
BHJ Balancer
10% Overdrive Jackshaft Pulley (aluminum anodized)
10mm Magnecor Wires
Magnum Powers Inlet Plenum
Magnum Powers Blower Top
S-Model Supercharger
SCCOA/Kooks Shorty Headers/Jet Hot Coated
Lucas 42lb Injectors
76mm C&L MAF
75mm BBK Throttle Body
Spectre Hose Sleeving
Solid Engine Mounts
MN12 Front Suspension Kit
1 1/8 Rear Sway Bar

Complete Art Carr AOD w/ Art Carr 2500 non lockup stall

EEC Tuner

All of this produces over 400 horsepower without touching the intercooler to cool the air charge further.

Interior is intact and very nice, but the exterior has 1993 paint, some hood paint chips, and a small dent in the passenger door.

Autometer ProComp Ultra-Lite Boost, Oil and Temp guages
Autometer Sport Comp Air Fuel Meters (2)
Autometer Oxygen Sensor array
AutoMeter dual A-Pillar pod
Autometer triple bracket on dash
Autometer chrome cups for three dash pods

SCCOA Downtubes/Cats
Magnaflow Stainless Resonator
Magnaflow Stainless Mufflers

Eibach 1.5 Lowering Springs (5000 miles on them)
Tokico Illumina II Shocks
Mustang rear spoiler (with LED brake light)
Remote Start / Keyless Entry

New headlight housings
New clear corners
2 interchangeable dash clusters (original with grey faced guages) and another with Electro-Luminescent guages
Driver door hangs a little

90% Limo tint on rear three windows

Asking $17,500

Should I do it? $8,000 down payment on a Cobra and the rest dumped into my 1994SC??

Any takers? The powertrain and other add-ons are worth that alone.

There are maybe 20 miles on the engine since Coy put it in.
under 5000 miles on the supercharger, shocks, springs, sway bar and some other items.

The big question you all have....WHY...

The bottom line: 400 stock horsepower with a warranty

Mike if I could afford it I would damn sure take it. Why has Coy Miller had it for so long?
Also the '03 Cobra is one bad A$$ machine. I hear that it can run 11's with some slicks and a pulley!

My 95 SC is the nicest car I've ever owned, but if I could afford an 03 Cobra, my SC would be down the road for sure ... people with 03s are going to be going 10s with them before very long, without much work ... they're getting 500 rwhp out of them already !!

If you can get the $$$ you want or need to get out of the car DO IT... You are right, the 03 with Ford standing behind it{and in some cases very far} will give you peace of mind. From the looks of it you still will have a S.C. for those double dates and such. Trust me, you sure don't want to plan a double date and take the 03 cobra..... Now the good and bad of this.... The 03 will be worth more $$ as the time goes by,as long as you keep it somewhat stock, or at least keep the stock parts to put back on..Horsepower is very eazy to get out of that engine and the car does mod up without too much trouble or $$$$. Now for the bad, insurance, ride, space, and cost.. Keep in mind, some dealers may start to deal on them,as they have been out now for 6 months now and they are starting to stack up at the dealers [around here at least] so don't be afraid to try.. Oh, there is one more good thing, you can hang with a ZO6 all day long and make him and a lot of others humble as the day goes by... Go for it and enjoy the new cobra,I know you will... Red is good and even the cops like that color.....ask me...LOL Good luck.....Rich

Comparing apples to ..Grapes?....id go for the Cobra if you can afford it of course..But it will nevere be an SC..Just too different a car..But of course you have a 94 SC...So get rid of the older SC..Leave the 94 alone....and get the cobra

I told him to take his time and make it right. I had been ripped off by a shop that rebuilt it the first time, then the second shop bent two rods in a brand new stage 1 and after that I just sent it to CMRE.

While it was there, I was still under financial recovery from the destroyed engine, so I gave Coy money for parts here and there until the engine was re-done and this time with the stage 2 pistons and rods.

While it was there, Magnum Powers came out with their inlet plenum, then I needed a bigger TB, then I wanted 10% overdrive, but off the jackshaft for belt slippage. Then BHJ balancers came out, so I slapped on the pulley set.

He is installing the pulley set now and should be done relatively soon, I hope.

Coy gets swamped and I didnt care if he put everything in front of my car as long as he took care of it, didnt ******** me and take advantage of me.

Besides, its not like I have been fiending for an SC...My 1994 SC substitution has become faster and better looking than the 93. I like the interior better, I have swapped the 94 rear bumper with a new 93- bumper. I have a killer Excelon system with satellite radio. Stock engine and problems because of Ford, but it still performs.

I want the car back. I really do, but when faced with the opportunity to obtain the Cobra with the power already there, the supercharger, the resale value and the warranty....

Sheeeeit...

If I'm in your situation, I go for the cobra. Go to the dealer, crank it up, listen to the exhaust, pull out the checkbook.

Mike-

You wouldn't still have the '94 rear bumper cover laying around, would you?

Sorry this is a little off subject, but how much would you want for it?

Not to stir up anything, but How did you figure that hp # out? Engine dyno or Chassis dyno figuring drivetrain loss?

I have never seen a Coy Miller car will that much hp come right from coys shop. Especially with a stock or double IC. You will be "lucky" to have 350 crank hp.

The numbers were around 402hp or something like that once Coy slapped the Magnum kit on it.

The original engine dynoed at 370 or so, then was destroyed by the shop installing it. When Coy got it back he rebuilt it and had to clean it up a bit. I had him install the stage II rods and pistons for durability and at the same time Magnum came out with the intake plenum.

When he installed all these items with my blower (S-Model) and a 5% OD, the dyno showed a tad more than 400hp.

Now, I have installed ASP underdrives and a 10%OD jackshaft pulley, so I anticipate if the engine dyno translation to my car lost some HP, maybe I have a true 400hp car now.

All I know is when the engine was destroyed by the engine shop here, I asked Coy to just do what he could to obtain 400hp. When the engine was rebuilt and dynoed it achieved it, but that was on Coy's dyno. He told me that I would probably lose maybe 10-15hp in my car with my intercooler, but that was before the underdrives and the 10% OD, so I am "assuming" 400hp IN THE CAR now due to the loss from CMRE dyno then adding the other parts since then.

I plan to have the car dynoed completely to see about drivetrain loss, etc. I want to see how much the Art Carr transfers to the street.

It is a stage one engine, stage two rods/pistons and just about every add-on I could get thus far.

I would say more like 30-40 unless you have a front mount. He also uses some special headers that would never fit in an sc. My guess is you will be lucky to see 300-310rwhp. I want to know some #'s though when you do get your engine back in your car!

Go for the Cobra... Kenne Bell is making a S/C for the car that can make an additional 251 HP over stock;) . Now that is one mean mother link here (http://www.kennebell.net/superchargers/ford/cobra03/cobra03.htm) :D

I kinda agree with Chris. Substitute pump gas for race gas, a 'stock' intercooler and piping, exhaust that fits the car, a PS pump, an alternator, a AC compressor (even if it's not on, the clutch is spinning) etc etc. By the time it gets in the car under 'real world' conditions, it'll be around 300-320 RWHP.

Good luck getting that much for it. Duffy bought Spiro's old '92 with a Stage I/Stage II crossbreed for $9K.

Not to be a total d!ck, but it's a 10 year old car that hasn't run for 2 years. You might want to be a little more pessimistic in the asking price.

But I'd take the Cobra over a SC anyday. Err...assuming they were both in my driveway and I could drive the SC the next day!!! :D :D

I wonder what all he had in the car to sell it for that.

The engine and transmission in my car alone is over $10,000 and that is not including labor. I would hate to take such a hit on the price, but I know that unless someone came along and knew exactly what everything was, where it came from and how much it cost to have it done and installed, then it would be a deal.

I figure $15,000 would be a good, firm price considering the condition of the car in general, all the addon parts as well as the crap I have sitting around here.

Yeah, the car has not been constantly driven in 2 years, but in this time, the engine was out of the car, worked on, reinstalled and tested by CMRE. I know this has been done since every time Coy said something was done on the engine, I had him do something else..

Anyway, there is a lot invested in this car and I really dont know what to do with it. This whole fiasco started back in the day when speed meant everything, but now its all about not having to worry about car problems.

I am stuck in the same situation that I was in with the 1993 when I started working on it. I owed money on the car and needed to get it running because I couldnt afford to just have it sit there.

The 1994 has been put through the ringer with engines because of a Ford dealer's negligence and now I fear that it is a ticking time bomb. But, of course, because of the economy, used car resale has hit an all time low and the car is not worth what I have left on it.

I think I owe like $4500 on the 1994, maybe (probably) less than that, but dealers are trying to give me like $3000 for it.

I just wonder if I should just take the hit and run from this car.

But then I have the 1993 which I am not 100% happy with the way the car looks anymore.

What do I do?

I was toying with the idea of installing the CMRE engine in the 1994, selling the Art Carr tranny and selling the 1993 for whatever I can get. I dont owe anything on that one anymore, so it would be cash for me.

But then there is the outlaying of funds to swap engines from one car to the other. Not to mention some of the other items in the 1993 that I would still want in the 1994 like the Eibach springs, Tokico Shocks and all the other stuff. Guages and things like that are easily interchanged, but I am just SOOO unsure as to what to do.

Hell, I got so deep into this car I own websites and a pile of car parts to put Ford to shame...

Now all I want is a NEW car with a decent warranty.

I know how you feel. I put $10,000 into a $16,000 Mustang LX that I bought brand new in 1990. So basically I had a $26,000 Mustang.

I keep resisting the urge to go hog wild on one of my SC's for the same reason. When you get right down to it the cars are old and you are taking your chances by dumping a lot of money into them. If they get wrecked we lose big-time because in everyone elses eyes they are just 7-12 year old cars.

I could afford to go out and buy a new Cobra but I have lost so much money in the stock market the last two years my priorities have changed. I hope that I can afford to retire some day?

I'm not going to do another thing to modify my 90 SC. I'm just going to try to keep it running. On the 95 SC 5-speed that I just bought I am going to do the exhaust, a CAI, 73mm MAF, 70mm TB and a pulley and that is it. I don't want to start messing with the fuel system and etc. because that is when it becomes a constant "Money Pit". I know how it is, "I can pick up a few tenths if I just do This". When you reach a certain point you have to do several expensive things just to make it work right.

I'm going to try to keep the 95 nice because it was the last year for the SC and only 574 5-speeds were made so it is a very rare car.

I just don't see how you can afford to get rid of the SC that Coy Miller is working on. You will kick yourself later if you let it go for less than what you really need to get out of it. You don't see many SCs on the streets so get it running and enjoy it for a while before you make a decision.

Early SC's look better than newer ones. More aggressive and down to business looking.

Trade the 94 in on the deal for the 03 Cobra and keep yer 93 SC.
