How would a P205/55R16 89S tire fit on a stock 89 rim?
What size is recommended as a stock replacement.
Is there a better size I should look for?

I do belive that the stock tires size is a 225/60/16. If you went to a 205 you would be putting a pizza cutter thin tire, also it wouldn't be as tall because of the ratio. Hope that will help out some.

if you want the same tire height as stock, but wan tto use the 205 tire, the nyou will need a 205/65-16 tire, almost identical tire sizes.

Go here to find tire calculator for comparing stock tire size to an aftermarket tire size an d it will help you find what ones will be best to use.

If you are looking for a decent tire for the stock rim, might I recommend the 235/55/16 size I ran on the stock front rims for about 15,000-20,000kms. Very nice size with the right brand.

205-55-16 tires would probably not enough have enough load capacity for a car the weight and size of a T-Bird either ...
