PCMED Manual??

I have an 89 5-speed and the Check Engine light came on for about 10 minutes... It ran as if it were on 4-5 cylinders and wouldn't idle at all. My normal Mechanic's scanner died so he couldn't get the codes... I took it to FORD, it recently changed hands and the former owner took ALL the older manuals with him! So one of the techs has been there long enough to still have a scanner that worked but no idea what the codes mean.

Is there a link for the codes?? I have tried searching the site, no luck there....

Help!! Please!!!???

I've bookmarked the page, however 2 of the codes I have say they apply to 5.0 only....... weird huh?

Here is what I have. It matches the info from KMT's link.

42 R Oxygen sensor circuit indicates system rich, right side

45 C Coil Pack 1 (A) circuit failed (3.8L SC only)

88 O Electro Drive Fan circuit failure (3.8L SC only)




You have to be careful reading the charts because they can have the same codes listed but for different engines.

Here is an example that shows one of you codes for both the 3.8SC and the 5.0

45 C Coil Pack 1 (A) circuit failed (3.8L SC only)
45 R Thermactor Air upstream during self-test (5.0L only)

From what you are describing it sounds like the DIS module is going south.
