Rotor pack with holes drilled

I recently opened up one of my extra early model blowers and found they had a hole in each lobe...maybe they were testing these at one time for a lighter rotating pack? Near the rotor tip on each rotor has a perfect ly made hole and this is the first rotor pack I've seen like this...anyone else come across this before?

Yeah? I noticed that my late model blower rotors had some holes drilled in them, too. I'll see if I can get a pic of them too and then see if they're a custom thing. I was curious, as well.

Stegemier did that to rotor pack to lighten them and gave it a name like venom or something I don't even know if they do it anymore.

Was it ever determined to have a benefical effect? I would think that to lighten a rotor enough to be effective enough to quicken response time that said rotor would become weak enough to flex, maybe even break.
