9 Second 4 cylinder mustang!!

i had an '85 TC and '86 XR4Ti - they'd both get mpg similar to my SC.

SVO Mustangs, which were a bit lighter in comparison, were rumored to do better.

Wow! That's awesome. I like the underdog and people that do a unique build and that's definetely an underdog setup.

My buddy had bought some high performance heads for a 2.3 turbo build that he was doing, but had abandoned the project (needed a better Fox Mustang). It's in limbo right now, but I keep on trying to nudge him to do something with it.

I remember those XR4TIs when I was living in England. That was the hot ticket over there.

I grafted an '87 TC IC onto mine, way back before they made kits to do the same thing. I'm tempted to buy another one. Friend of mine self-imported a Cossie engine & giant rear wing for his '85 XR4Ti. That thing was a monster.

Yeah, remember that Cosworth 2L Ford was selling back then? Now, that thing was no joke if you could afford one.

We have a guy in St. Louis named John Huber who has a very impressive 4 cylinder turbo Mustang. I think his best pass was high 8s.

Yeah, I've seen Huber run several times and his car is very impressive. Is he still running in the True Street class?

Don't know, back when Kurt K and I were going to Gateway on Tuesday nights for street car shootout he was out there nearly every week testing. Kurt and I ran our cars in the less than 8 cylinders tuner class and one of our cars was usually in the final, sometimes both of us made it. Anyhow Huber's Mustang was always faster and usually spoiled our party. Here's a picture of my 91 SC lined up with Huber's mustang. BTW, that race was my best ever reaction time .005 and Huber drove around me at mid track like I was sitting still.

It must be 7-8 years back now, but I remember watching him just embarrass the rest of the TS class at Bowling Green. He was hot lapping consistent 9.7 passes, but obviously he's a lot faster now.

There was an XR4TI in pretty good condition that came up in the used ads here not too long ago. Cool cars, but for some reason, I don't think the styling has aged that well.....they kind of remind me a bit of a jazzed up Escort/ Topaz.
