I have found a cougar that is forsale but has two rust areas on both rear quarters below the rear window. Is this an expensive fix? Are these major support areas? they want $2k for the car. Needs other work as well to ABS, Exhaust, belts and hoses. over 100k but does have 5 speed.

Any input greatly appreciated.

That's going to suck to fix...sounds like a basket case. Too much for that condition for sure.

Honestly, I would give them $500. And, thats because I hate to see any of these go to the crusher. Also, Im good friends with a body man, and Im getting into some fabrication....

There is always more rust than you see, and you can see a lot on that one!
With the rust, and all the other repairs it needs, I would value it the same as any other car of the same age and condition.

$2k? I'd like some of what he's smoking. Sad to see them parted out but this might be a candidate. At $2k, run don't walk. At $500... that might make up for the cost of repairing those rockers and I assume there is more rot. Let me ask, this car has a sun-roof right?
