Shocks and Struts Experience

Has anyone here ever used the Tokico HP Series Blue shocks and struts on their sc? I'm not worried about keeping the arc system because I never really drive the car on anything but firm anyways. Thanks!

I'm currently running them. They seem to ride nicely, definitely not stiff. I would place the ride quality somewhere close to the firm ride setting, but not as jarring over bigger bumps.

Anyone know how to set these up so the ARC system will work with the rears. Apparently, they have 5 settings and do work with our cars. Thanks

That's what's on the rear of my car. Didn't know they were not the two way adjustable. I do notice a difference between modes but now I'm curious. Previous owner didn't mention replacing them so I assumed these were stock or stock replacements?

Information is incorrect. Those are only 2-way adjustable for the factory ARC system.

I was referring to the Tokico Illumina replacements that have 5 settings. According to their website anyway. I should be receiving them next week and want to know how to set them up to work with my '95 SC ARC system since our stock shocks had only 2 settings.

Then you weren't referring to the EE3690s, which are correct for the SC (I have them on mine now) and are_only_ 2 position. Yes, the marketing materials are confusing. Welcome to the SC.

But for the sake of discussion, if you were able to find a 5 position shock, and you were able to mount the electric adjuster, you'd need to decide on which combo of settings you'd want to work with - pick one:
  • 1 & 2
  • 2 & 3
  • 3 & 4
  • 4 & 5
I doubt you can go full circle from 1 to 5 or 5 to 1, but that would be the best, since all the others are too fine to make much difference between them, I think.

Thanks. Apparently, some of the websites say they are 5-way adjustable and some don't say anything. If I have trouble, I'll give you a shout. Rick

Shox.com sells the 2 position OEM shocks and struts that are easy to use with ARC. They are $599.00 for the set of four. If your 5 position units are the same price you may want to consider going with the OEM replacements. I did late last year and really like them. I could tell immediately. Took the car down the McKenzie Highway today and could easily notice the difference between soft and firm.
