View Full Version : Powder Coating Question

Hey everyone,

Now that the local Princess Auto is carrying Powder Coating stuff I thought I'd give it a try and start with the belt tensioners. Has anyone (or know anyone) that has powder coated belt tensioners? If so, did they have to take them apart first? I know its a dumb question, but I don't relish the idea of taking mine apart as they have the MP springs installed...which are a lot stronger then stock ones. Mind you, the powder paint needs to be curried in a 400F oven...so I'm not sure if that temp will hurt/break anything inside the tensioner itself. Thoughts?

I believe you have to take them apart cause i think there is a piece of plastic inside.

I'd buy a spare set to practice on/break down, and when you get the PC where you want it, either move the MP spring over, or work live on the keeper.

I like the idea of purchasing a spare to test on.

Does anyone have one or two for sale that I can practise on?
