Had a problem with the differential I put together before. Either the case, or the caps flexed and torched the gears. They started to howl. I used a aluminum case last time. This time I'm using a iron case with iron caps, a LPW cover, a Auburn Pro, new bearings, seals and a 3.73 I got out of a explorer. I'm hoping I don't screw this up!

Do you have a pic of the 'torched' gear faces? Sometimes howl is just lash asking to be adjusted, I thought.

For the Cougar. I was watching a video of the car going down the track and I noticed I wasn't in 4th long before I hit the lights. 3.55s weren't in the yards I was looking in, but I found 3.73s all over. So, I went with them. I haven't taken the other one apart yet. Just saw that the oil looked awful and the howl started after a couple passes with the slicks. Knew something was wrong. Wondering what this little bit of gear will do for me....
