How do you adjust trunk lid torsion bars?

I need to adjust my trunk lid torsion bars due to the weight of my rear spoiler. The bar ends are in the least tension position and the trunk lid will sometimes fall if it's not completely open. A gust of wind can move it enough for it to close. I looked at tools that are used for other Fords like the mustang, but the T-Bird bar ends are not made the same. They are not shaped in a 'C' to allow such a tool to grab the tip of the bar to rotate it. T-Bird bar ends are just slightly bent at appx 30 deg. angle vs. 90 degs for other torsion bars. Any ideas or specific tools to do this job?

I decided to leave the bars alone and added a single gas lift cylinder on one side.
