The car I bought was advertised on SCCOO.
1990 Super coupe 5 speed
Red with black leather - 204,000
needs clutch arm peddle
new tires,brakes,battery
everything in good shape
can be cert. and e-tested
$1500 or best offer
It has very little visible rust. Driver seat leather is pooched. All options and such work (except antenna). HGs done 50K km ago. Still stock with minor exhaust upgrade. I think the belt tensioner is going. Could be water pump or might be something else that is making a rattley kinda whine/noise. Could be something SC specific.
I take delivery in a couple of weeks. Will swap a few newer/improved parts from my 91 LS Cougar before selling it. I won't come close to getting back the money I've poured into it over the last couple of years (rebuilt motor, exhaust, etc), but it's got to go!
Now, if only I could find that mint TurboCoupe host for my 5L....

Right on there Keith and if you ever need a borla exhaust ready to bolt on for $500.00 let me know.:D

Hey Greg,
The exhaust on this car was fattened up a bit, but I don't know the specifics. Probably just a cat back upgrade. I'd like to consider other exhaust upgrades before applying an overdrive pulley. Would you be kind enough to describe the Borala exhaust you're selling.
I'd also be interested in fattening up the intake side - MAF andTB. Anyone have better than stock for sale?
Bill, apparently you don't know me that well. I was never wise; just quiet. :D

Keith
The exhaust Greg is selling is a Borla made cat-back system that is no longer manifactured for pre-93 T-Birds. The entire system is made from T-304 stainless steel, and if you look under the car, it looks like the day it was new. For that price, I would pick that up. Greg's car is a testiment to the fact it makes good power. I would upgrade the exhaust on an SC before I would touch ANYTHING else.
As for intake, you'll likely get Steve Richards stepping up to the 90mm LMAF one of these days, and he has a 76mm C&L I'm sure he'd be selling. As for intake tubing, talk to Jim Gravelle and do what he did with a local exhaust shop.

Hi Bill,
The upgrades will be simple. Exhaust, as you indicated is a must. I'd also do the intake tract, then go for pulley(s). A cat back is a good start, but what about manifolds and downtubes? Do these need to be improved before applying a 5 or 10% overdrive pulley?
As far as intake is concerned, the silencer will have to be removed, add a K&N panel (or the K&N cone from my LS), add a larger MAF (Steve, please keep me in mind when you get your 90mm), and add a fatter throttle body.
Greg, the exhaust has been replaced recently. It may have been upgraded at that time. I'll need to check before I commit to buying exhaust parts.

Keith,
I'm still using the stock manifolds on my set-up, but Tom ported them sigificantly after the motor was built. New down tubes and high flow cats would help considerably, but a 5% pulley won't hurt anything with the cat-back system already installed.
IMO, a bigger throttle body and a ported inlet plenum will yield more results than a MAF upgrade. Try picking up a 70mm MAF from 93+ SCs, that will be enough. (just ask Les);)
BTW, I haven't been to any Leaf games yet Keith!!!!!!

Actually bill a 70mm maf is more of a myth for performance. It only flows like 9 cfm more, there was a test a bit back on flow testing all the mafs and the 70mm proved nto to be a very good upgrade when most people buy em for like $50

Hi Ron,
Thanks. This is the SC that needs a hood emblem. I'll be looking for that one you have for sale...

Tazer,
Anything can sound good or bad on paper, like why my heads flow less than most others, yet I make more power.
We put my 70mm on Les' car, and we could tell the difference.

I think it Les' case, it was just a matter of him making that depression in the firewall a little deeper behind the accelerator pedal!!! ;) ...It wasn't the bigger MAF at all! :D
Keith,
Tonight should be fine. Just give me a shout if you need directions again.
Cheers,
Sean

Les's MAF went on the car as long as newly ported inlet plenum, by ours truely. I'm willing to port out anyone's inlet for them. Just email me and we'll talk about what you might like done. Hell I'll port out anything you want for you.

Sorry about not geting back to you about the clutch peddle from the parts car I was wanting to get the car home first to see what stuff is good

Sean,
Thanks for the pedal, antenna and the SC insight. Please put me on the list of blower rebuilds. In the meantime, I'll give you a hand when you get to the clutch.
Jason,
No problem. Sean has looked after the pedal. Looks like my fun will have to wait til the spring, but what a spring it will be!

is it you have no antenna or it just isnt working? the antenna on my new 90 only goes up a foot, cant figure out why
the antena on my parts car works fine so i think i may just swap them.. whats easiest way to do so? go through the fender well?
KClarke
11-27-2002, 11:26 AM
Antenna is there, but won't go up/down. I believe the fenderwell is the only way to get at the motor.

Actually, Les' MAF went on long before the ported inlet.
