On a 90 super coupe when the key is turned theres a click and then the power cuts out and wont come back on, positive terminal on the battery gets hot too

Is the solenoid near the power control box, behind the battery, on the inside of the left fender, hot too?

Done any work to it lately? Been in an accident?

you could have a shorted starter motor or its seized for some reason.

Has any work been done on it lately?

There is no "reset" for the starting circuit, just old school troubleshooting.

1. Disconnect starter main power cable at the starter and isolate it from ground.
2. turn the key to start. Do you hear a click? If your battery terminal was getting hot, more than likely the starter relay (solenoid) is good. With the wire disconnected the battery terminal should stay cool. Turn key back off.
3. reconnect the starter cable. Jump the terminals on the solenoid with a screwdriver or plyers. Starter should engage. If it doesn't and you get a face full of sparks, the starter is shot or the main power cable is pinched to ground somewhere.
4. Safer option is to just remove the starter and have it tested at autozone, but that wouldn't be any fun.

Best luck, please report back what you find.
