Camshaft differences auto vs manual

I was told that manual cars received a different cam then auto's
that was identified by a blue stripe across the rear of block &/or rear cam expandable plug
at Essex plant, so that Loraine workers could I.D. which trans to attach.

Also was flexplate or flywheel installed at Essex for final balancing or not until it got to Loraine ?
I guess if they were already installed it would be pretty clear which trans to attach lol.

I've seen posts here that claim the '89 manual cars got the "best" most aggressive cam. Never got around to finding actual specs to compare to others. I have several '89 manual cams on the shelf, and have wondered if it would be worth the effort to swap out to one of my autos. Be watchin g this thread
