What kind of tranny fluid should i use for my 5 speed that i just rebuilt. It uses 3 quarts right???

GSL works really good in our 5 speeds. You can get some at the local GM dealer but its not cheap. It cost up around $10 per quart.

Mercon ATF (Dexron 3 is the sae thing). It actually holds a total of 4 quarts but you also need 4oz of a friction modifier so about 3.75 quarts of ATF

Anybody using the redline oil product in their m5r2's?

Some of the mustang guys near me swear by it.

Also, is the GM fluid called syncomesh?

Thanks,
Justin

My 94 factory service manual calls for five oz.es of friction modifier to be added with the tranny fluid in manual transmissions.

I have been using Mobil 1 synthetic ATF in my five speed for three years now with no problems.
