Always a step back

After going through some fixing-up of the old girl(new long tube headers, valve cover gaskets, and painting), I've noticed the ABS motor isn't doing what it used to do. Before, when I key the car on, the pump would start right up. Now when I key on, I don't hear the motor run, but if I pump the peddle 4 or so times it will run. If I don't make sure it runs and drive down the road, the ABS and BRAKE lights come on. The pump and accumulator can't be the issue here(pump rebuilt and ball replaced last year). What I was thinking could be the cause here would be the pressure switch. I don't have wrapped headers now and did before, but I have heat sleeves over the pressure switch so it shouldn't be getting damaged. Or it could simply be the relay, I just haven't tested that yet.

I also could be overthinking this, but any advice would be helpful.
Thank you.

Don't forget the possibility that you've got a going-bad ignition switch; the vibration of pumping the pedal shakes the switch and makes contact on that portion.

Time to drag out the old EVTM and follow the electrons around :D
