Has anyone else had a problem with there headlight switches (main switch and the high beam switch)? I can not manage to keep mine from burning up. I can't use my fog lights at all anymore and the connectors for the harness and burnt and cranked. I am using the standard light bulbs in everything and have been through 2 of both switches so far. Anybocy have any ideas? I'm am all out. I love the car but if this keeps up I my be forced to buy a Mustang or worse, a ricer.

in my 90 I went through three switches in three years. I knew they were going when the headlights started blinking on and off. I was to a point where I didn't get the chance to replace the switch for a couple days, and i went around holding my high beams on and using them as driving lights.

Deffinitely a common problem in the 90's tbirds.

Cheers,
Justin

Hi, Hock.

This definitely is a common problem now that these cars are getting older. I certainly didn't expect it. The best way to help the system is by use of relays, so far as my personal research has shown up to now. I have relayed my fogs through the technique at http://www.35ththunderbirdregistry.org/Tips/RewireFogs.htm so that the original fog light switch only kicks the relay on and saves the headlight switches and MFS from the load. You might even try using the full relay system from http://www.supercoupeperformance.com/Miscellaneous.htm so that the entire lighting system would then be on relays. Your factory switches won't see the heavy loads of the actual lamps. Something to think about at least. My headlight switch went bad 2 weeks after I had it and had to replace it. That's when I started finding out about the use of relays and I haven't had trouble since. Hope this helps some.

Happy Holidays.

Hock.......I replied under a new thread: CHECK YOUR POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX FUSES. Don't know why. Guess I'm too full of turkey.
