Hi everyone,
My alternator died and I've come across a problem, Ford doesn't carry them anymore and they recore them for $180+tax. I was just wondering if anybody out there has one lying around somewhere and is willing to get rid of it for a fair amount.
Thanks for all your help,
Rob

there was just one on eBay last week, I think its over now though, I don't think anyone had bid on it the last time I looked but then again people always bid last minute, just a thought.

Hey Ryan, yeah i might have your number in the car somewhere but maybe not so leave it for me if you can.
I found out that my info is wrong, Ford had the part for $180. Not the work for $180, Ford doesn't do recoring but they said just call any alternator shop and I know a place around here that will do it for around $130. But how long will this last, would be better to go find one that hasn't been rebuilt?? is $130 a good price??
Ryan email me instead of leaving number: robsc8500@email.com
Make me an offer i can't refuse..... j/k
Thanks for the help,
Rob

Thats right Rob, the mesh DOES look good, thanks. I'd also like to say that Rob has his own version of "sex lights" in his SC. Which I might add, also look good.
Did you get my mail?

$130 is an ok price, I get them done here in Scarborough for $120 cash, that's new bearings and new regulator. Rebuilds are just as good as anything out there. If you want to puke just check CTC's price for an SC altnernator..$370.00.

No CTC does not carry the rebuild kit for it, this thing is a Mitsubishi alternator not Motorcraft. CTC does carry a complete rebuilt alternator for that insane price.

If you guys think that $182 is a reasonable price for a remanufactured Ford unit, I'll order one in to keep in stock. What Ford Canada is doing with the reman. starters and alternators for older applications is to have the dealers order them as needed, and Ford puts the order through to the vendor, rather than keeping them in stock in the Bramalea warehouse. Obviously this is a part that you can't drive your car very far without, so waiting 7 - 10 days for one to arrive usually isn't an option. LMK if ths is something you would considering buying from the dealer, or if you would rather just source out local rebuilds.
cheers
