help.... have a 92 thunderbird.. sc.. brakes have hard pedal.. called ford, they wouldnt touch it.. a friend changed the relays.. worked for a while.. now battery dead.. alternator not charging.. accumulator ball "buzzes" after ignition is off.. abs light and brake light come on..( has been since we p urchased it.. we are newbies to this model ) hard pedal returns with no warning..but after a few pumps.. brakes come back really frustrated with this thing...it's a beauty.. but getting a little frustrated.. any help would be greatly appreciated..
 
Any particular reason you're posting this in here and not in the technical forum? Just curious, because this place is typically pretty dead.

Everything you report speaks to a bad accumulator. Priorreman sells them much cheaper than Ford. If you can't get a good tech to diagnosis it for you, chances are that's the problem and you can install it yourself in 1/2 an hour. No guarantees, but after 12 years of owning an SC, this is usually the fix for the symptoms described, as well as the relays, which you've already done. Be aware, if the pump has to run continuously to try and keep a failing accumulator charged, you run the risk of killing the pump and /or the relays.

Do a search on "accumulator failed" or such and you'll get plenty to read, and the links to Priorreman can also be found that way. Good luck. Dan H
