Flickering Headlights and Int. Lights

Hey long time no post. Which in my case has been a good thing.

Latest developements have been involving flickering lights.
It doesn't happen right away I could be driving for 15-20 mins in traffic and then it usually starts. The headlights will flicker very low. They dont flicker off just flicker to getting really dim. The radio and dash lights flicker along with the headlights. They get really dim and flicker for a few mins or so at a time. The only thing not affected by this flickering is the oil and fluid levels panel(above the radio). They keep a constant solid green.

I've tried to see if it happens at a certain time.. whether the fan kicks on or when I hit the brakes. Nothing consistent. It happens whenever.

I took and got my Battery and Alternator checked both have no problems. Pep Boys couldnt find anything wrong. They reccommended an electrician wiring specialist.

Oh sometimes.. very rarely the Battery light did flicker on once or twice during the lights flickering.

This has been going on for 3 or 4 weeks now. The car hasn't died or not started so Im convinced the battery and alternator are charging fine.

If anyone has any suggestions please offer them.
I dont wanna pay $100/hr for someone to find something simple.

thanks

Your light switch and / or multifunction switch is gone.
This happens all of the time when you use the fog lights for long periods of time. All of the power to all of the lights run through the switch causing it to over heat the switch and wiring if left on too long. High powered bulbs makes it happen sooner. There is a relay that a lot of guys use to reroute the power. I just don't use the fogs. Good Luck

What is this relay how do i fix my prob?

Actually I dont use my fog lights or have ever used them. They havent worked ever since I got my car. Does this happen if I have never used my fog lights. What do I do to fix this problem?

Thanks

This will happen over time even if the fogs are not used. All the current runs through the headlight switch (no relays) in the dash and eventually burns it up.

First thing is to remove the switch from the dash and take a look at it and it's connector for signs of overheating. If found, replace the switch and possibly the connector.

There was once a recall (or TSB) on this issue, but it did not apply to all years that would be affected and I believe it is long over!
