Parking Brake

My hand parking brake doesnt seem to be working well. It will keep the car at a stop when in D or R, but give it a little gas and the car moves very easily and does not slow down at all if i pull it while moving.

Is it jsut a loose cable or something or would i need to replace a part? Any input would be appreciated.

might try some new brake pads and rotors. Anyway if that is not an option you might try adjusting the slack it is supposed to tighten itself but if pads are worn it does not work as well. But why would you try to use it to stop while you are in gear?

Supercoupe94fl,
I see what your getting at.
There is a addjustment that you can do under the car at the rear end.
If your brakes are in fair condtion you can adjust it right behind the 3rd member. The park brake cable comes to a Y there and there is a clip(or slip clip, with a sping) that can be moved to tighten the slack in the park cable.
Adjust this a little at a time, put it in gear( park brake on), and see if it will hold the car.

It is nice to know if you have a nother opion to stop if the main system fails.
