Hello everyone,
I'm trying to figure out an esimate weight for shipping of a compleate SC engine, whith SC, and all accessories incluging wiring and I/C tubes. If anyone has shipped a compleate engine and is familiar with what one of these engines weighs please let me know.
Thank You,
Greg Roll

I think J57ltr posted that weight a few years ago. Hopefully he sees this and responds. I had an engine shipped to my company via freight truck a few years ago and it cost me around $71 from Pittsburgh to west Michigan.

It helps if you're shipping to and from a business. I was the one that Kevin bought the motor from and had it in a make shift crate (pallet with a frame around it so they could stack stuff on top of it if needed) at the engine shop I worked at. They loaded it with a forklift. Not sure if they'd even come to a residential address.
Good luck,
Steve

I have it written down somewhere but have no idea where, I think it was a hair over 400#. The only other thing I remember was that it was the complete engine lower intake to oil pan and valve covers, waterpump and flexplate. A supercharger is right at 22 Lbs, IC and tubes are about 20#. Lower IC to lower manifold adapter was about 4#.
I started writing everything down in a little note book(instead of sticky notes) cause my memory ain't so good nomore.

Thank you to everyone who replied to my post, I should have enough info to figure out my rough cost of shipping. I'll have to see about getting it shipped to and from a business. But thanks for the info.

Yeah, pretty much what Steve said. It is a heck of a lot easier (and cheaper too) if you can ship from a business to a business. The freighter that I used was a regular freight company that we (my company) shipped things through. I'm not sure what it would have cost if I was just calling them as a regular person off the street. Hopefully Jeff's long term memory comes back soon and everything will be okay. I don't know where you are located, but some freight companies off the top of my head are USF Holland and TNT. They might be more regional to me though so check around where you are.

Long block 385.... blower...28 ... ic tubes...20 each...ic stock....20.. power steering stuff....40.... alt...20.... air cond.and everything on that side of the engine.....85..... misc other parts, i.e. air intake,tb,mass air,ect.....30.... so you can add up what you are sending and get some idea on what you are looking at... Remember to add the crate you are using,as well. The normal skid will come in at 45 lbs plus what ever you use to keep it in place..I hope this helps you and when you are done adding up all the parts you can see why a Big block with a bit of alumium is the same weight as these V6's ....Rich

Thanks Rich,
That sure is some helpful info. especially with the breakdown of weights. I wonder if my manager at Autozone would let me have an engine shipped there? I'll have to ask him today. My Chevy lovin' friend guessed it would be about the same weight as a big block and was pretty close. Thanks guys for the info on this topic, hopefully I will soon be able to get an engine to build up right in my garage.
Thanks again,
Greg Roll
