Hey everyone, it's been like 8mths since I've posted here It's nice to be back and still see alot of the regulars still here and many new guys/gals.

For the longest time now I've really had my mind set on 17X9 cobra replica's for my 91SC, I've seen them on a fair few SC's so I know there available. But just yesterday I had called a few wheel dealers to get pricing on wheel and tire packages and they told me they don't make them for the SC bolt pattern, then I told them I've seen them on several others and even for sale on E-Bay but they knew nothing. Is there something I'm missing? Or do we need to add the spacers? I'm totally confused here. Any help would be greatly appricated. I'm hoping to have them by May 24th, the day I take it out of storage. Thanx everyone.

Mike.

O.K., I've got to ask the dumb question; what is the SC bolt patterns? I would have guessed that they would be the same as the 5 bolt mustang's, must be wrong there, someone tell me next post..also, maybe someone can enlighten me on the best wheel width currently have the stk 16 in SC wheels, running 2.73 gear.

I like the 17 Mustang GT wheels, not sure of their width, but will they fit under the fenders if you use adapter plates?

I'm wondering if I go to the larger wheel, lower profile tire, does the overal diameter change? HOw do you get your speedo calibration back to "accurate" reading?

Mustangs have a 4.50" bolt circle and Thunderbirds have 4.25" bolt circle. I bought my 17" X 9" Cobra R replicas and a set of Nitto 255-45-ZR17 tires from the place Ed mentioned. Since the tire size (OD) is very close to stock, no speedo calibrations were needed.

David,

Thanks for the info, go figure, why would they make a different bolt pattern like that?

Noticed your time, 13.3, you must have a pretty beefed engine there, what year SC do you run? How far from stock is it?

I'm just getting back into cars after being an "observer" for the past 10 years or so, I can't get over how much machine work has gone up since the mid 70's, I used to build chevy's and chrysler products, bore, balance and blueprint a short block for $900. and that included new, forged pistons.

The most recent numbers I see on the Ford V6 is more like $3000 now, and that don't include parts.... oh, well, guess I will get used to it....right now, just enjoying my new 5 speed luxury-super coupe.

Later....

So we don't get them mixed up.... The mustang are more centered in design, as for our cars they are a front wheel design........NOW BEFORE you all go off on this, The design of the birds was to give as much room inside the car as possible and by doing that they went with a wheel spacing the same as a front drive.... For what ever reason they also changed the bolt pattern so that someone would not put wheels with the wrong back spacing on and overload the bearings and get into rub or clearance issues.... I hope this helps and also opens this up for more talk....Rich

Wyndell,

I done about everything imaginable to the drivetrain except an aluminum driveshaft. Since running 13.3 in October, Chris Wise and I reworked the heads again, changed the cam, installed a front mount intercooler and are now getting ready to upgrade the supercharger case and plenum. If I don't spin the tires to bad it should run high 12s now.

And yes, everything for SCs cost much more than a small block chevys or even a 5.0 mustang. I have no idea why the wheels have a smaller pattern, but again it just makes them more expensive and limits the options we have.

Here is a link to my members page that list all the mods.
