Can anyone tell me the difference between forged and (hypertectic?) pistons. which is stronger, weight differencs etc. Thanks for any help.

Forged pistons are the strongest and are best for all out performance, but are heavier than the hypers and require more piston to wall clearance than cast or hypereutectic pistons .Most 5.0 mustangs from about 1990 on are now hypereutectic instead of forged pistons. I would say that for anything other than ultra high horse power, the hypers would be the piston of choice, but I must admit I don't know which type the SC has.

Hyperutetic pistons.

These do not require a large clearance for expansion and will take the usual beating needed for these motors.

The forged are good if N2O is being used or REALLY high boost pressures are here.

Good luck.
