View Full Version : An important piece?

Right behind the resonator is a small crossmember that runs under the exhaust pipe with 4 small bolts holding it in (2 on each side). Well, I can't fit the 3" exhaust pipe through and make the bend. How important is this piece? Can I just remove it or should I fab a new one and replace it?

i came across the same dilema when i did my exhaust two weeks ago. you dont really need it for anything. its too flimsy to be any kind of frame support. i think its just there to support the exhaust incase it was to fall off or something.

Any thing with that small of bolts, cant do much... I have seen screws bigger that that. To make you feel better, maybe get longer bolts, and put 1 or 2 nuts as spacers between the piece and the body.

Thanks, it's comin out then. Anytime I can get rid of metal is good news for me. It does look like it's there to hold the exhaust in case it falls out. Yeah, worry about that a whole lot.

Check out the dual exhaust pics at the tccoa website: (http://www.tccoa.com/gallery/exhaust/index.html)

Here is one that shows a good routing.

That piece is actually there to help the chasis flex and twist. Believe this, little pieces make a HUGE difference.

Anyway, take a few stainless steel washers (1/4") and place them between as spacers.

Just my .o2!!!!!!!!
