Hi guys,

Ok here's the deal. On my 89 the stock exhaust manifold collector bolt is rusted and can't get it off. Instead of busting my knuckles (the bolt is completly stripped and nothing will work to get it off I've tried about everything) I'm just gonna get a set of headers. The only problem is that I've never seen a set of headers for a sc. Do any of you guys know of a manufactur that makes them? If so any links? Also what do these run a set.

Thanks

Mike

i heard that you can go with mustang 3.8litre headers, i think from the 1999 mustang. they will be cheaper than all others but they will require a bit of fabricating to make fit.

or you can go the expensive way and pay 500 bucks plus shipping for a set of kooks headers (coated headers will cost you 620) . kooks headers can be seen at www.supercoupeperformance.com select the 3.8sc tab and then go to exhuast. itll be in there.

most poeple say the best bang for your buck would be to port the original cast iron manifold. or to go with the mustang headers. but if you got allot of money to spend and want the best, i think that kooks is your answer.

here are pictures comparing the kooks (shiny ones) to the cast iron (ugly ones)...

This seems to be a pretty good alternative to spending all that cash....The return is not near enuf to justify the cost IMO...But hey I just thought I would bring that option up...Here is a link to the Header MOD for the SC...

Thanks for all the responses guys. I don't want to go high dollar. I just want something to replace the stock manifolds. I'm already spending more money so I'll get something a little better than stock. On the 99 mustang manifolds, what needs to be fabricated?

Thanks

Mike

Also I found a set of 99 V6 headers for $50. Do you guys think it's worth it?

Thanks

Mike

If you look at the thread posted in my previous post you will see HOW TO do the stang header mod...

I want to do this too but I don't think I would waste my time with stock Mustang headers. I am to try the mod to aftermarket MAC v6 headers.

hey sorry to mislead you, i guess they arent the 99 3.8 mustang headers and that its more like its 94-98 or something like that mustang headers.now to answer this other question....

On the 99 mustang manifolds, what needs to be fabricated?

Here's the driver side after modification. It needs about 2.5" lengthened, the collector needs to be rotated counterclockwise about 60 degrees, and we had to put an indentation in the side for just a little more steering shaft clearance.

Hello,
If you are still looking for some Headers off a 3.8 Mustang I have a pair off a 2000 model that I would sell for 60 bones plus shipping.

What would have to be done to get those headers you want to sell to fit my car? How much performance gain can you expect to get, how much bigger are those headers than the sc's? If it doesn't take much i might be interested in buying those headers

thanks
