pretty good vid, definetley need high-speed access for it though....... some nice rides there, and nice burnouts. The guy who won the burnout competition must have brought a set of tires just to rip apart at the track...that was sick!

You think that XR7 sounded like a fart can? That is one of the fastest cars around, and the video just makes the car sound remotely bad. If you hear the true sound clip of the car you will wet yourself

I'm with Tazer on this one... Doesn't that car belong to Mark from MI? I thought his was the only black Cougar XR7 with the SC skirts and rear bumper cover, and the Mustang Bullit wheels with the grey centers.
I thought that car sounded great!!! What a cam! If you guys can confirm that it's Mark (SuperCatXR7, I think?!), I'm emailing him to see if he'll give up the specs. ...Lumpy as all hell! My brother was in the room when I played that clip, and when he heard that car, I had a hard time convincing him it wasn't a done up V8!
Since my car isn't really a daily driver, I might be willing to sacrifice the idle properties to run an extreme cam like that!
Cheers,
Sean

Bruce,
I urge you to review the clip again, and consider that Mark has big heads and a heavy cam. He's also running the MAC shorty headers and full exhaust. I think the sound improved once he got directly in front of the camera, and then rolled past it.
Please tell me if you still think it has a 'fart can' sound. ...I will still respect your opinion.
Cheers,
Sean

Alright Sean after listening to it on my good computer ya its totally different from a fart canned cavalier.. but is it just giant pipe out on the right side of the car? thats what it kinda looks like..
i dont like the sound at all i think its terrible but hey to each thier own.. sounds more like a cummins diesel engine then anything. personally i love the sound of the white SC after Ted L's burnout

Fart can? ~~~? Not at all, constantly mistaken for a big v8 with major cam in it. BLOWNV6 custom license plate tells the rest of the story from the rear. Those are true dual 2.5" exhaust without cats, and only one dual in dual out muffler at the center of the car. The car actually shakes at idle while in drive.

I've got the opportunity to buy Mark's camshaft from him. What do you guys think? Would that lumpy idle be welcomed in the parking lot of some SCCoO meets?! ;)
BTW, Mark ran a best of 13.0s at 109mph with that mill and a very aggressive tune!
FEK ME!!!

Sean

Well, I guess 'ya snooze ya lose'!
Mark sold the cam to someone else yesterday evening. Maybe I'll just contact Fred myself and see about getting him to grind me a brand new one?!
...To be honest, there's a long list of stuff that I really should get done before I start to think about slapping another bump-stick into that original stock bottom end. Maybe this is for the better...
BTW, Jason, that file is huge! It's about 128 MB in size, and even with a fairly fast internet connection you can expect it to take better than ten minutes to pull down. I've got it saved locally, so perhaps I can share it with you at some point in the near future. Mark's car sounded that good to me, that I would love to share it with all you guys to get your take, and see if you think I should go that aggressive with a camshaft.
Best regards,
Sean

Sean,
Why not take your laptop to the meet tomorrow and show everyone.
I doubt I'll be attending, but I'm sure everyone would be intrigued by it.

I may do that, but the sound sucks on the laptop. Maybe I'll go and grab a pair of headphones this morning to bring with me. It's just the speakers actually in the laptop aren't great.
Cheers,
Sean
{Edit} I'm at work right now pulling down the file again. This is just as easy as hooking up the laptop to my network at home and transferring the copy I already pulled down. I can't believe how much faster it is here! At home, I was getting somewhere around 150 KB/s, whereas here I haven't dipped below 290 KB/s, and I saw some bursts of around 1 MB/s! I guess that's what the big buck of a business connection gets ya! I'll see what I can do about getting some headphones, and you guys can have a look and listen tonight! {/Edit}

Downloading with dial-up, while not exactly fast, is feasable. It took a total of 6h47m. Video was good, although a bit dizzying from the car to car spinning. Definitely needed the DivX codec posted link to view the video. Besides, can we ever get enough SC vids??? Naaaa, you can never have too much of a good thing. Thanks for posting it, even though I couldn't make it, it was almost like being there.

It's quite far for me too. I think they decided on western US this year, right? I live in Southeastern Connecticut. Besides, after my attempt to bring my SC to Carlisle ended with a pretty bad leak in a trans line, she's on light duty for awhile. She stayed safe at Randolph Texaco in New Jersey and I went anyway, thanks to a great bunch of guys from New Jersey who went above and beyond the call of duty, particularly Bob Simpson. I enjoyed it, although it was a bit overwhelming being my first major Ford\SCCoA event. People's descriptions just didn't do it's sheer size justice. It was HUGE! I'm looking forward to future events.
