View Full Version : Next Meeting February

RonzSC

*****EDIT*****
Our February meet will be on Saturday, February 15th at the California speedway. They allow only the first 500 cars racing priviledges so be early if you wish to race. Otherwise, coordinate with Al35thSC and cruise in with the chapter.....end edit 2-22-'03...rg

I propose that we gather for a lunch someplace like the Queen Mary. Since we are so close to race time and all the venues really haven't geared for the year I thought that let's just settle on a date and get together. You know the Queen Mary was a nice place!!!???!!!

Anyone have an absolutely BAD day the first weekend of February (1-2)?

Speak up or forever hold off the throttle!
All are welcomes and no dues is required. Everyone covers their own tab.

Welllllll.... I know it's in Long Beach, and probably on the water, but besides that, I haven't a clue. Want to be there but will need a little help.:D

for a couple of days and wait for feedback about bad days and such. When we have a go then other issues follow like the links.

Sun. is better than Sat for me. I think this sounds like a really good idea. Is there a doable cruise route nearby that allows for some 'fun'?

Anthony

BTW: The bartender on the ship made a fair black and tan last time I was there.

al35thsc

Black and Tans RULE!!! Someone recomend a cruise route???

Al

We should go south from there for a more scenic route.

al35thsc
01-16-2003, 03:30 PM
You mean run them off the pier??? I know the SC can be a little cruel at times, but theres no need for that! I

I agree, maybe a drive down the 5 so we can take a pic of the sc's around the rest stop at Camp Pendleton. The coean could be our back drop!

Did everyone see Shelton's post ab out Ca Dragway announcing their SL schedule. The 15 and 16th of Feb are listed and that would be absolutely perfect for our needs!

We can all get close to dialing our SC's in and spend some good quality fellowship time.
Which ever is the best time for Shelton is good for me....oh yeah!!!

If there's a dragstrip open within 500 miles, John will be there!

Mike

That's less than 20 miles from me - I think I could make that.
easy access off the 10. Mike's planning on coming out here Sat. - maybe we can take a buzz out there and take a look. :)

I think the Fontana meeting makes more sense in terms of where we are headed in March.
Sunday looks good for me also.

John Shelton
01-18-2003, 02:35 PM
Either day works for me...unless that Saturday is forecast to be dry and 40's or colder in Sacramento. In that case, we should have a convoy!

RonzSC
01-18-2003, 08:51 PM
John...A convoy to Sacramento? *****Oopps, That's the weekend that Heather comes home for the weekend.***

I may be pulling my hood off in expectation of getting the other project hood and we may take Nikki's van, however we would be game for a convoy.

So as for the meet, are we still on for the 1 or 2nd, or are we going to the speedway on the 15th ?

Hey guys,

After what Mike's found so far on my SilverBird, I'm just going to be pushing the SHO for a while. :(

I'd just like to know where and when I'm gonna' be pushing it. Valerie (girlfriend) said 14-15 would be alright, but I'd better do something nice for St. Val's day. :D

BTW who's making the decision- I've no idea how this kinda' thing works.

Lee

Oh, how about a valentine for the girls?

al35thsc
01-20-2003, 03:53 PM
Oh my, if I gave that to my gf she'd kick my arse and take pictures to have proof and blackmail me :D We all let this thing kinda go on for a while Lee, then we all agree on something and show up.

Al

PS Nice meeting you again.

My SC won't be done by the first or second. =(

Here's an update:

-My insurance totalled the car.
-cheapest repairs came in at just over $4700
-35th blue booked at 4500
-bought back the wreck for $282
-less my $500 deductible

Total amount of check, TO ME: $3718

Parts, less Hood, clear corners - From Ford: 786.20
Paint: Figuring around 800
Hood: 479.00 http://www.americansportscar.com/
Clear corners: 2@$55.00 ea. $110

Total amount left, after parts, and paint: 1542.83

My figures might be wrong, but close enough.

What will i do with 1500 bucks, you might ask. Well, the answer is this. I dont know. I hogged the **** out of a spare inlet plenum i had... looks beautiful. Gunna have my dad mill me a 1.5" aluminum spacer to go under a raised SC top i plan to buy. making my own 3.5" polished aluminum intake tube... and some other things while i'm down. i figured i could do little things since i can't drive the POS.

It'll be ALL done by march. AL, you're mine =)

520 probably means .520 lift :). Hey Mike, I'll lend you a hand if you need to push cars out of your garage to work on yours and then back in to stay overnight. We can do your mods in one day if we get a few more people there to help! Tech party???

Al

You shame the engineer trade! fo course 520 means lift.. but i didnt know duration :-)

here we go:

Dual pattern, intake
is 212° @ .050 and
.521
lift, exhaust somewhat bigger.

Hey, I'd be willing to help. I'm not totally useless - just mostly. :D

If I'm carefull I can put some weight (more every day) behind a car, and play nurse to your doctor - I can still lift tools. ;)

Have we hashed this around enough ? We had one indication that Sunday is better, so Sunday it is.

Our next meet will be on February 16th at the California Dragway in Fontana. (Seel local venue).

Al, will you please plan us a cruise to the track setting; the time, meeting spot, route, and coordinate in your usual fine fashion? Thanks...

al35thsc
01-22-2003, 06:52 PM
Ron, for me to be bale to make it, we would have to change the date to the 15th. Sunday has been reserved and there is no way I can reschedule (not unless I wanna be single again). So I'll go ahead and keep planing if it is changed to the 15th. Otherwise, someone else will have to take care of it.

I had meant that Queen Mary was better for Sunday. Sat is fine for racing. If Al can't do the 16th then the 15th it is! My mom may fly in that weekend with my little brother so maybe I'll drag him along...

Anthony,

The queen marry is just a meeting place for those that will drive from this side of the state and want to cruise together to Fontana. We meet there since its an easy spot to get to, um ok maybe not but you know, at least we can ask for directions if we get lost. We dont necessarily eat there or go on the ship or do the tour thing, we all wait in the parking lot, and take pictures of the cars if we want while the others get there. Then we cruise together and head to the track. No real need for you Easterners to drive WAY out here and then go back over there unless you really like pumping gas :)

So how about it then??? Saturday it is???

I am down in Oceanside, how far is Fontana from me?? If someone can post some directions to the Queen Mary and to the track that would be great.
Also I got some bad news for me today. Looks like I am going on deployment in August as soon as I am done with school so my hopes of finally taking my SC to a fun ford weekend got shot down the drain. I hope everyone else can make it to L.A. in November for the show/race. I really, really, really wanted to go. Oh well, hopefully they will come back next year. Drive safe and I will see everyone on the 15th.

So far the only place that sounds reasonable to meet at is in Cal Poly Pomona (off the 10 right after the 57) and from there on it only takes about another 20 minutes to get there so it isnt much of a cruise. The second place I thought of was Whittier Narrows Recreational area. But John and Mike and possibly a few others(who would be coming down and up the 605) would back track down to the 60 freeway about 6 or 7 miles. Its up to them, back track a little or a short cruise???

Al

rivlee
01-25-2003, 12:18 AM
Cal Poly is a backtrack for me, but I drive a lot anyhow - 3 trips this week out to Dr's Hospital Montclair, just a couple miles short of there. A lot closer than the QM. ;)
Anthony was asking about meeting to go to Fontana, and this wouldn't be bad for him either. Slide over to the 15N to the 10W.

al35thsc
01-25-2003, 05:09 AM
Lee,

Its probably best for you inland people to meet us at the track, unless you really really want to drive to LAC to cruise with us back to Fontana. The cruise is just meant for a pit stop for the people coming from down south (if the San Diego people are up to it) and up north (Rons crew and maybe the barron) so they can stop and we can all show up together to the drag strip. It looks pretty cool when we do that. My favorite so far was showing up to Bakersfield with tripplets :)

Well here is the problem. I am having serious detonation problems with my car. I posted a thread on the tech. forum titled "detonation" I have some ideas and I have to get it fixed. I don't want to destroy my engine. Now, Al said once that if I was pulling 15-17 boost then there was something wrong with my engine, now what might that be? I have been told to run octane boost, go to a bigger pulley, and some other things. I also need to get it tuned profesionally. Please help.
