Alternator, or something else?

Ever since i changed my alternator, my headlights, interior lights, and even the accessory lights are dimming in a strobe light manner. I just tested the voltage while i was running my car and it fluxuates between 14.6 and 15.7 in a pattern, and is never steady at any point in time. Any ideas on whether i got a crappy alternator, or anything else that could be wrong?

Thanks
Mike

It might be a bad alternator, but check the connections if they are loose or dirty then it might be the cause. 15.7V is too high.

Concur.. There is nothing external to the alternator which could cause that sort of problem... well that is unless you have some monster stereo system with capacitors and inductors and the like.

Had a similar problem and it was the hot lead from the alternator. I do think 15 volts is too high, i would suspect the alternators voltage regulator circuit is not 100%
