Okay: This winter I am planning to replace the S/C snout seal and do an oil change on my XR-7. I bought the fluid from GM as it's cheaper.
I would like to pull the charger apart and replenish the grease in the back bearings before it becomes a problem. I'm not sure what grease to use though.
Whatever the OEM was has lasted 288,000km. I have Optimol grease that I am thinking would work good. I read on here that Husky grease #00602 is the right one, but I can't find it anywhere.
Any ideas on what the OEM grease is, or what has been used succesfully long term.

cheaper to buy the bearings than the grease ...like 10-15 bucks each.. I think ...maybe waiting list on bearings ...seam to be on the slowest boat , in back order harbour somewhere .. your not far from London?

I've got twenty of the bearings for the rear of the case (enough for ten blowers). If you're in a pinch, and can't get the bearings fast enough, let me know and I'll sell you a set. I'd have to go and dig up the invoice to let you know what they're worth to me.
Best regards,
Sean

Dave,
How long would it take you to take apart an early style blower, swap the rotors and re-assemble?
Also, how much would you charge?
Curious.

and you could likely do it yourself ... let you use the press in the shop... I would just over see @ no charge ...Thats if you feel brave ...it pretty straight forward once you get over the fact ford wants 6 grand for a new one ...lol

Bill did you gaet that 10% jackshaft pully,I just bought Johnny O's and acording to Steve (stroked 93) there are some calculating to do about the blower pully because 10% jackshaft + 10% supercharger pully = a hell of a lot more than 20% .I dont want to totally fry my blower but , more psi more psi !!!:D

Greg,
When I bought the ESM 10% jackshaft, I put the stock pulley back on to maintain approx 10& overdrive.
I'm planing on running a 5% pulley on the street, and 10% at the track (10 rib versions though).

Bill,
Wooo Hooo!!!
10% jackshaft pulley + 5% blower pulley = Giddyup!
10% jackshaft pulley + 10% blower pulley = Giddyup Some More!
Let's all chant together now...
"BOOST! BOOST! BOOST! BOOST! BOOST! BOOST!..."
:D
Umm, one question though... Do they make quick change cylinder heads for the 3.8L supercharged motors? It would sure make it easier for head gasket replacement! I can see it now...
"I run the multilayer gaskets at the track, and the standard FelPro composite gaskets around town."
;)
Regards,
Sean
