I like all of the below.

I have a compliation album that I burned that I play to tune my stereo in my 94sc.

I must say that, for me, I choose Metal for racing purposes. Techno stuff works too, but the adrenaline seems to pump better for me with metal.

My favorite racing song is "AM I EVIL" by Metallica. I am not a big Metallica fan, in fact my first taste of music when I was 4 years old was my sister's Black Sabbath tapes and that turned me into a eternal OZZY (not Ozzie like Ozzie and Harriet) fan.

Am I Evil says it all and has that great start up to it after the repetative drum crap in the beginning. Kinda like the beginning of "Straglehold" by Nugent, but meaner and "recognized" as a true bad-~~~ riff.

On the other hand, Techno has it's place when racing the Imports. When I race an Integra or Eclipse, I tend to flip to CD #5 which consists of the Chemical Brothers and some other stuff that I liberated from Napster. That makes for some real high-speed handling soundtracks.

Country is probably the best for long drives through the midwest. Kinda sets the scene...

I guess I kinda think of my driving as being is the game "Need For Speed". There is a perfect song for every environment and just as NFS has a song for each track, each one of the Chicago expressways, for me, has it's own music...

Thank God for the Creative Nomad Jukebox...6 Gigabytes of MP3s...Never have to burn a CD and can plug right into the CD changer on Aux throught the Kenwood....to bad gas costs too much....

I'd have to go with either Pink Floyd, the Grateful Dead, or Phish. However, something more upbeat when I'm beating the tailpipes off a rustang!

I like light contemporary jazz and light contemporary rock. I hate hip hop, rap, and country western. Some of that stuff isn't fit to be called music.

anything with a good beat. That means mainly dance/rap, but there's also Metallica and AC/DC waiting in the lineup. Trouble is, i got sick of listening to the radio at work, so i always listen to the same tapes (CD changer coming soon) and i've gotten sick of those too! The SC sounds really good just below zero boost, got a high pitched whistle...

Nuff said.....I can dig the rap/rock stuff like POD, Onyx/Biohazard...or the entire Judgement Night c.d. for that matter. Then again, Korn is always good...Seven Dust rocks...and lets not forget about the Office Space soundtrack for those days when you can really relate to Willie D, Bushwick, and the rest of the Ghetto Boy crew

When cruising around town, it is always cool to turn Lowrider all the way up w/ the windows down, my car may not be a lowrider, but that song rules for cruisin in any large nice car. Other music i like would be electronica (orbital, propellerheads...), 80's metal (Metallica--Seek and Destroy-best racing song ever), Alternative/industrial (Filter mostly), SOME rap (Black Eyed Peas), Classical Guitar music such as that of Andres Segovia or John Williams is also one of my favorites when i am by myself and dont feel like listening to something modern (All my friends hate ALL classical).

Hmm, Tbird music? How about "Thunderbird" (ZZ Top), or Tito Puente also has a song of the same name. Or "Makin' Thunderbirds" (Bob Seger), "Pink Thunderbird" (Jeff Beck). Here's one I saw on cdnow.com, this song MUST have been written about an SC... "T-Bird Blues (How in the World Did I Ever Get You?)" by Mike Cross. :)

Well, HEAVY METAL ALL THE WAY. MEGADETH, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Sevendust, Ozzy, Ted, Poison, and MEGADETH.

Let me introduce myself
I'm a social disease
I come for your wealth
Leave you on your knees
No time for for feeling sorry
I got here on my own
I won't ask for mercy
I choose to walk alone

What's yours is mine
What's mine is mine, too
If you shake my hand
Better count your fingers

I love playing that so loud that you almost bleed from the ears when racing. Good for cruzin too. Other than that, everclear, everlast, sublime, kid rock, THe offspring, presdidents of the united states of america, Floyd, doors, dead, metallica. You name it, I'll race to it. Hell I'll even race to country, though it only to find a telephone pole to crash into to get that @#%$ off my radio.

You can figure Nellie, Outkast, JZ, Green Day, SR71, Creed, Deftones, J.Lo, Dream, and lots of Hip Hop. Myself I can listen to it, but I prefer 38 Special, Pat Benetar and early 80's groups. That's not to say the once in a while you wont hear Sade, or Hiroshima and other New age Jazz...

Metallica: Fuel

Gimme fuel
Gimme fire
Gimme that which I desire
Oh

Yeah
Turn on, I see red
Adrenaline crash and crack my head
Nitro junkie, paint me dead
And I see red

I run across through black and white
War horse
War head
F*** 'em, man
White knuckle tight
Through black and white

Oh
On I burn
Fuel is pumping engines
Burning hard
Loose and clean

Sunna: Power Struggle

I will defeat what I'm heading for,
And I will be here forever more,
I am the weight of your empty shell,
I want more than I am.

Cuz I was made to fly,
Cuz I was made to fly,
And you were made to die,
But I was made to fly.

ACDC: Thunderstuck

Sound of the drums
Beatin' in my heart
The thunder of guns
Tore me apart
You've been - thunderstruck

Thunderstruck, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Tunderstruck, thunderstruck, thunderstruck
Whoa baby, baby, thunderstruck
You've been thunderstruck, thunderstruck
Thunderstruck, thunderstruck
You've been thunderstruck

I have an in-dash mini-disk player, so i perfer to mix together a balance of music types. I open with a non-vocal song (Boost me off of Gone is 60 Seconds, Mission Impossible, 2001 Space Oddesy, Top Gun Theme, ect) to get in the driving mood, the move into something with a bit more of an edge (Ozzy's Crazy Train, Magic Carpet Ride, American Women, ect). I like to continue in the edge for a while then shift to something a little more laid back but still "rock." Slip in a little bit of techno for the occasional high-way speedo-test.

Each mix is about 74 mins (i am working on some 80 min mixes now that there are new disks out). I have two types of mixes, "Driving Mixes" for any occasion, and "Crusing Mix" for just that.

I am now working on a new system for the SC, however it is a pain in the @$$ trying to find the stuff i want. There is such a small Mini-Disk market no one carries the stuff i need/want. Oh well. Factory direct here i come.

I prefer to listen to schtuff that makes the SC fill with ambient noises. Stuff like Radiohead's new stuff. Amnesiac is amazing. I also love Weezer, gotta get some happiness in somewhere. I like electronic stuff, like portishead, bjork, Sneaker pimps. And sometimes Deftones can be brought back into my life, of course only pre-White Pony Schtuff.

no, ricers play techno not rap.

i am from texas, and i have an ear for a little bit of country, but country has no place whatsoever in an SC.
Over the years i have lost the ear for rock completely. I like classic rock, but again, not to be played in the SC.

i if its at night and i'm cruising i will play Ben Harper, Ben Lee, Elliot Smith, just chill stuff like that.

if its during the day and i'm cruising, i hit up G Love and Special Sauce, B-Boys, tribe, or underground hiphop

If i'm rolling like i'm gunna do a drive by (Day or Night), i gotta bump that hard underground rap or Dirty Dirty South Rap, like South Park Mexican, and other stuff out of Dallas or Houstan

If i'm looking for a race, i'm probally gunna bump more upbeat mainstream hard Rap, like Cash Money, No Limit, Outkast, Dallas or Houstan ish.

Techno has a place in the SC, but to be used sparingly.

(Keep in mind, i'm 20).

Hey Derek, I just turned myself on to Soilwork within the last couple of months. I was on Kazaa one night and I did a audio search under the metal category and started downloading songs from every band that came up that I hadn't heard of. I downloaded Children of Bodom(heard them?), In Flames, some other bands I can't think of right now, and Soilwork. I downloaded about 21 songs from them and have been listening to them about 98% of the time I drive. I love their style. Are they a new band? I had never heard of them before. They kind of remind me of Kreator a little bit, but better musically. Soilwork is high on my list of all time favorites now. BTW, I'm sure you have heard Children of Bodom, if not, check them out.

my preferred music is...

the whine of the eaton s/c at WOT.

After that it's pretty much anything that's on my ipod, as my musical tastes are pretty eclectic.
50's, 60's, 70's, 80's...
I like a lot of 70's rock and then mix that with current music such as early-album dashboard confessional, some early blink 182, jimmy eat world, old-school weezer, and then drag some occasional country into the mix, blend in some experimental electronica with a few jam bands, j-pop/j-r&b, some mainstream techno and then you're close to replicating my playlist.

I used to blast louder stuff when really going, but lately I've taken to just chilling and cruising around comfortably.
Or at least, that was the case until my cd player refused to turn on today!

For me it's about the rap. It's about all you'll hear coming out of my T-bird. For street racing you can't beat Project Pat and/or Three 6 Mafia, for all around crusing Young Buck and G-unit are good, Lil Scrappy, Bohagon, E-40, Young Dro, Crime Mob, Lil Flip, Twista, Do or Die, etc.
