So us young guy's can't appreciate good taste? I can take care of my car just as good as anyone else, and trust me I didn't take a hack saw to the springs so I could look cool! Just because I'm 18 doesn't mean I can't be a Supercoupe ownwe does it.... and I'm sure I can hanld ethe power just as good.

nothing personal friend. Just bustin some balls. im sure there are many 18- responsible SC owners out there and im glad to see the youth (considering how many 35+ drivers there are) who appreciate the SC. I was just thinking of a 16 year old kid thrashing out his pops SC. Ah yes i remember those days, unfortunatley i didnt own an SC back then. can you say....hyundai!!! yeehaw!

There have been 17 teenagers killed in car wrecks in the Atlanta area since May of this year, either drunk or drag racing or both.

I'm 16 and my SC isn't papas! :-) It's MY baby and i paid for almost all of it (haha..mom helped out with a grand!) Anyways, i put 500 bucks into it already for parts (just necessary, old wear out parts plus an oil pan that was cracked when i bought it)...anyways, you better believe that the White SC is washed every weekend, and the interior cleaned (leather conditioned and all) every two to three weeks! i love my car.

I like the SC because It's big enough for me to get my cane and walker into (with the help of some pretty nurses of course ).

its ok doom doom.. im 20 and i think it is cool to talk to 16-18yr olds about there cars..... but in real life its a different story.... see i live basically in a ghetto. but i have towns close to me (orland, fox valley,plainfield,ext..)
where 16 17 18 yr olds drive around in new mustangs, 3000gt,
bmw, and when i do see one of these pricks rideing around in a sc... we punk him out.... sorry :)

Are you old farts just jealous that you can't have fun anymore?(J/K) I'll be 19 next month and just
like TURBOBIRD I work my ~~~ off just to pay for my cars. I've been through 3 Thunderbirds and
I'm going to buy my daily driver(88 TC/88 Mark VII) soon, I hope. Yea I must admit that I have done
stupid stuff(and sometimes still do), but hey that is what being young is all about. I have a
tendency to hit curbs(3 times), only once in my older SC(90), that pissed me off and it cost me
$2000 to fix dispite the fact that there was no damage visible(only suspension)that was two years ago,
as for the other 2 times they were in my Mom's Hondas. I vouched that I'll never do any abuse like
that in my 95 SC(knock on wood). Sometimes doing stupid stuff is fun and sometimes it can
be a costly mistake, but that is life!

Later,

Zac Ochoa
95 SC 14.8
90 SC 15.0

in response to the prior post, i rest my case. I dont even have to say anything about young-ins, they say it all for themselves and dig their own holes. Maybe with so many 16 year old drivers out there, we should create a 18- only BBS!

No reason to name call is there? We just like our cars. The only problem is if we liked our Honda or Toyota cars, we're all of the sudden thrown into the punks, and "Ricers" catagory.

Just in case you young-uns think us old guys don't have it anymore, this 53 year old drag racin' old man has a 30 year old wife. My son is older than my wife! And, I usually beat you guys at the drag strip, too. Race at the strip and not on the street. Most of us old guys have been there, done that, and survived only by the grace of God.

Is that squeeze into the front seats. Only my kids seem to have no problem getting in/out of the front.
My taller friends have to move the passenger seat as
far back as possible.

I have a technique which I developed years ago for
climbing into the ft driver seat:

1. open door and place right foot far into floor board as possible.
2. turn left slightly facing out
3. With left hand, reach back and place over bolster
4. slide into seat
5. swing left leg into compartment

Step #3 is important to keep the constant abrasion on the seat to a minimum and hence reduce wear and tear.

New to this board. It rocks!

i'm 42 been buildin & racin cars for 18 yrs.just to let you young guys in on sumpin;i haveta save up just like anyone else.most of my money goes into the house(about 150k miles on it,everything keeps breakin)2 kids(they gotta have some fun too)new car payments(300M,you don't expect me to rack up miles on the bird when theres a perfectly good chrysler to abuse plus the kids get the interior all dirty)i bought my 93 new EVERYTHING still works, even the vmm.any stock part i replace gets cleaned and packed away.and i will never ever sell it.as far as drag racing i've had much faster cars and never really considered the tbird a candidate but oh what a sweet cruiser it is keep on sc'n this bbs is great and happy holiday to all p.s. any of you whipersnappers out there that think they can keep up w/my raggedy ol ~~~ ....bring it ON! LOL

I'm 19 and I'm from the minnesota hick area so I have around 5 1/2 cars. Got the old 86 5.0 elan, 88-5.0 sport(shifter in the middle), and 2 sc's, one ford festiva that I use for a 4-wheeler. Got the festiva by trading 3 video games to one of my friends, hell of a field car. and I've paid for them, not to say the bank has helped me out, but god you have to bust your ~~~ to stay on top of these cars, and work your ~~~ off to have money for when they break down. God I LOVe the SuperCoupes and I will drive these cars until the very last one rusts in half, then I will perserve that last car and make a museum for the sc and all of us who were here on this webpage. Talking about the good old days. Okay that's a little far fetch, but hey it could happen.

I'm turning 18 in March and baby my SC.I have owned two other cars before, a 88 beretta, and a 94 explorer.(beretta sold, explorer traded in by my parents, no I didnt crash them)..I think that its really biased to think younger guys should be driving an SC.I'm not all mad about it I'm just sayin....I dont want my age to be a reason why I dont go to an event but if thats what you guys feel...

I was born in '63, bought the car new in '94 as a birthday present to myself. I was in one age category when I bought the car and now I'm in the upper age bracket. Another testament to these cars is the wide age range they appeal to.

I went from knowing everything, to knowing nothing, to knowing that a degree gets you a good job and lots of SC parts. I am 22 and just bought my first SC, so young enough to have fun but old enough to appreciate it.

I'm 33 and just bought my '90 XR7. I've wanted this cat since I saw it as a Junior in
College. I just couldn't afford the $23k sticker. HECK I couldn't even afford it until
recently. But the waiting paid off. I got a fully equipped model in excellent condition and
very low mileage (66K). Thing I love most is that it's fast AND refined. I can go anywhere
in this car and never be out of place.
I also own an '87 20th Anniversary Cougar (5.0 V8 NON HO with minor mods)which
was my first DREAM Cougar. This was also one I couldn't afford new ($18k new).
I've owned several Cougars during the years (84LS 86 V6)and liked them for the same
reason: Power,performance and refinement.
Best thing about all of this: I can afford a more expensive car, but have stayed true
to myself and didn't sell out to the Jones'.
My next dream car?
'68 Cougar (the year I was born) in Acapulco Blue with a White convertible top and
White leather interior.
BTW, I love this sight and never get tired of reading the BBS postings.
Thanks to ALL of you
