i have the motor out of my 90sc and i will change the main and rod bearings the motor is in very good shape other then a rod bearing going bad.

the rods them self are good for std bearings and the mains also i need to check the bores with a mic but i can see the cross hatching or what every it is called in the bores.

i would like change the rings if i dont need to have any machine work done can i just pull the old ones and put new in or do i need to do any thing to the bores

ps there is no ridge on the top of the bore the block is realy in great shape

If you install new rings you shoud re-hone the bores. They won't seal on old bores. Shouldn't cost much to just re-hone.

Yeh, you should hone the cylinders before replacing the rings or the won't seat properly. Have a machine shop mic the bores before you replace the rings. If they are too egg shaped the new rings will not seat even if you hone them. Also, make sure you clean the ring groves well even if you don't replace the rings.

Good Luck...
